Mr Hooman Soleymani majd is a highly skilled consultant in gynaecological oncology at the Churchill Hospital in Oxford, a position he has held since 2017. He began his obstetrics and gynaecology career in London and completed his structured postgraduate training in Oxford, obtaining a certificate of completion of training and membership in the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. He further honed his expertise with three years of sub-specialty training in gynaecological oncology at the Oxford Cancer and Haematology Centre.
A BSCCP-accredited colposcopist and trainer, Mr Soleymani Majd is a member of the British Gynaecological Cancer Society (BGCS), International Society for Placenta Accreta Spectrum (IS-PAS) and the European Society of Gynaecological Oncology (ESGO). He is an accomplished surgeon, with particular expertise in ultra-radical surgery for advanced ovarian cancer, including upper abdominal surgery, liver mobilisation, and diaphragmatic reconstruction. He also has a dedicated interest in the surgical management of Placenta Accreta Spectrum (PAS) and is a founding member of the OxPAT group. Additionally, Mr Soleymani majd is a member of the Oxford Complex Pelvic Surgery (exenterative surgery) and Sarcoma teams.
Beyond his clinical expertise, Mr Soleymani majd is deeply committed to medical education, mentoring registrars, fellows and students at the University of Oxford. He is involved in research on advanced surgical techniques for ovarian cancer, with multiple publications on the subject in leading journals. He has also commissioned a special series of high impact articles on 'Evolutions in the management of advanced ovarian cancer' for the Gynaecology and Pelvic Medicine Journal.
He has a number of past and ongoing collaborations with acclaimed researchers in the United Kingdom and abroad. He has authored book chapters and published prolifically in high impact peer-reviewed journal through the years. He is the co-editor for a new Oxford Surgical Handbook, which is being written and will be published in due course by Oxford University Press. An invited speaker at numerous international congresses and webinars, he serves on the editorial boards of four international journals and has recently been appointed associate Editor-in-Chief of Translational Cancer Research (TCR).
Mr Soleymani majd serves as a visiting Professor at Guangxi Medical University Cancer Hospital in Nanning, China. In addition to his NHS work, he sees private patients at Nuffield Health, the Manor Hospital and between 2021 and 2024, he was awarded the iWantGreatCare certificate of excellence for outstanding patient care. Mr Soleymani majd is passionate about teaching, research and committed to delivering the highest standards of patient care.
