We support the provision of specialist service in Paediatric Endocrinology for:
- Buckinghamshire
- Wiltshire
- Berkshire
- Northamptonshire.
The services we offer include:
- diagnosis and management of children with a wide variety of disorders of growth and puberty, including:
- precocious puberty
- delayed puberty
- short stature
- hypogonadism (lack of function of ovaries or testes)
- polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
- diagnosis and management of children with hypopituitarism (the inability of the pituitary gland to provide sufficient hormones)
- diagnosis and management of children with adrenal disorders, including congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH), Cushing's syndrome (excess of adrenal hormones) and Addison's disease (a rare disorder where the adrenal glands produce insufficient steroid hormones)
- diagnosis and management of children with thyroid and parathyroid disorders
- diagnosis and management of obesity in children
- joint specialty clinics with colleagues:
- paediatric oncology for monitoring and management of children with late endocrine effects of oncology treatment
- paediatric urology, genetics and clinical psychology for diagnosis and management of children with Differences of Sexual Development (DSD)
- quaternary input for children with disorders of calcium and bone metabolism
- joint transition clinics for transfer of adolescents with ongoing general endocrine disorders to adult care
- joint transition clinics for adolescents with Turner Syndrome and later effects of oncology input
- joint transition clinics for young people with endocrine effects following the treatment of childhood cancer
- endocrine support to neurosurgery, ITU and SCBU
- metabolic clinics: these are mainly for secondary care metabolic disorders such as MCADD, phenylketonuria (PKU), galactosaemia (a rare, inherited, metabolic disease which is caused by the deficiency of an enzyme)
- lipid clinics for children with familial hypercholesterolemia
- joint clinic with the Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) Thames Valley Service team.

- Swindon
- Wexham Park Hospital.
