The service is part of the wider Neurosurgical and Neuroscience faculty of the University of Oxford and Oxford University Hospitals.
With the right interests and expertise, they offer a wide range of treatments, including the latest innovations and techniques constantly aimed at improving outcomes and the experiences of their little patients.
They have a national reputation and have international links and collaborations.
The Craniofacial Service is one of the four designated by the Department of Health for England. Closely working with the plastic craniofacial surgeons, the most complex craniofacial abnormalities receive gold standard treatment, thanks to a combination of long experience and research based innovation.
In collaboration with the Paediatric Spinal Surgeons, children with challenging spinal conditions like spina bifida are offered complex operations in the context of a single general anaesthetic.
Teamwork is at the basis of their practice, and many different clinicians underpin the tertiary referral centre activity at Oxford University Hospitals.
Some of the devices used are neuro-navigation, intraoperative neuro-monitoring and ultrasounds with neuro-navigation integration.
They provide comprehensive care to the Paediatric Neurosurgical population in line with national and international standards.
