- Blood sent in an EDTA tube
- Stool samples sent in a sterile universal with spoon
Minimum volume
Adenovirus viral load - 0.5ml
Frequency of test
- Eye swabs - at least twice per week
- Blood samples - weekly (urgent samples can usually be processed more quickly on discussion with Microbiology medical staff)
- Stool samples are sent to the reference laboratory daily, Monday to Friday
