  • Blood sent in an EDTA tube
  • Stool samples sent in a sterile universal with spoon

Minimum volume

Adenovirus viral load - 0.5ml

Frequency of test

  • Eye swabs - at least twice per week
  • Blood samples - weekly (urgent samples can usually be processed more quickly on discussion with Microbiology medical staff)
  • Stool samples are sent to the reference laboratory daily, Monday to Friday

  • 6 working days
